The Oak Barrel Company uses clean wine barrelsto create all of our tables and whole-barrel furniture.
Using clean barrels ensures the finished furniture has no unwanted odors or stains from leftover wine. It also helps prevent potential issues with mold or bacteria growth in the wood.
Chris Deffenbaugh discovered a new purpose for old oak barrels by chance when cleaning out a friend’s basement. Inspired by the curves and shapes of the barrel parts, he repurposed them into functional art and furniture, starting with a bar cabinet. This sparked interest from friends and led to the creation of The Oak Barrel Company.
Chris, aided by his architect father’s advice, developed a vision for deconstructing and repurposing barrels. The company began by selling at art fairs in Ohio, gradually expanding through word of mouth and online presence.
The Oak Barrel Company’s appeal lies in the unique shapes of barrel parts and its commitment to sustainability. They strive to use the entire barrel, minimizing waste and appealing to customers who appreciate the durability of oak and the concept of giving new life to old materials.
